What our clients say
We have worked with Taylor for many years and trust him to assist us in supplying trade across multiple high-spec projects. He’s integrated at site level but is also attentive to head office needs. Finding staff has become increasingly difficult but Taylor always manages our expectations and is transparent and exceptionally responsive at every step of the process.
Contracts Director,
A.S.R Construction
Taylor is a vital part of our company’s growth. We had previously only worked in certain regions due to a lack of access to skilled and reliable labour. Working with Whitelake has enabled us to expand our reach. I can’t recommend them enough.
Managing Director,
HVAC Contractor
Whitelake Recruitment is a helpful agency. Brandon and Taylor are great recruiters. They have found me an ongoing job so I couldn’t be happier with their service. There have been no issues with hours and payments – I am always paid correctly on time. I would recommend them to all operatives looking for a job within the construction industry.
Machine Operator
Here are answers to some questions that you may have.
We check an operative’s references, right-to-work status and any necessary qualifications. Operatives will need to provide referee contact details. We will follow up with each reference to get a well-rounded view of an operative’s skills and conduct on-site.
Right-to-work status is checked by reviewing passport information, and in cases where the operative is not a British Citizen, we will check the validity of share codes on the government platform. All operative’s right-to-work status will also be checked and verified by the umbrella company that will pay them.
All operatives placed on sites need to hold the relevant CSCS card for their skill set. We will need to see the front and back of the card and will check its validity on www.citb.co.uk. For certain trades, we will need to see further qualifications before they can be placed on an assignment.
All operatives are paid via an Umbrella company. We have two Umbrella companies that we choose to work with.
Operatives can be paid as CIS or PAYE. Pay type is determined by their skill level and role on site.
CIS is suitable for contractors in the construction industry who are not supervised, directed or controlled in how they carry out their work (SDC). These workers are generally self-employed and are qualified and/or skilled in a specific trade.
CIS roles include but are not limited to: Electricians, Carpenters, Cladding Fixers and Dry liners.
Before an operative can be paid as CIS, they, and the assignment they are on, will need to be assessed by the umbrella company paying them. This is a simple questionnaire that determines if you are under SDC in that specific role. If you are not classed as being under SDC, you can be paid as CIS. If you are under SDC, you will need to be paid as PAYE.
Operatives are paid weekly, on a Friday.
This payment will cover the hours worked in the previous Monday – Sunday period. Timesheets are collected from sites on Mondays and Tuesdays and are processed for payment that Friday.
We understand that some trades and labour recruitment agencies hold deposits from the operatives they place on site for unforeseen expenses, for example, PPE and red card instances.
Whitelake Recruitment does not hold deposits from any of the operatives we place on site.
